i watched BBC and CNN the whole time. I was there for 3 weeks and it sucked because everyone was going "oh it's so much better that you're there." but I came back 3 weeks later with all the posters up for missing people and the stench in the air and the blockades all around. and I was carrying a little future new yorker.

The UK got hit a couple of years later. Neither place is safe really. I watch fox news here in the uk for work, and followed the story last week about the car bomb in NYC. It was after 7am (Cali time) and my uncle came home from work and said "turn on the F&$@en tv! look what F$&@en happened!" and I said WTF!!
I use to work in long beach across the street from the trade center over there in the evenings. Ppl used that as an excuse to leave work cuz they thought the same would happen there.

I always used to go to the window and look at both towers and one morning everyone was in the living room glued to the news then I was like this can't be true, I looked out the window and saw them on fire.
I saw the North Tower collapse, it was just a bunch of smoke and the antenna just sunk, I also saw part of the South Tower collapse. It didn't click that I just saw hundreds of people die right before my eyes. Unbelievable.

That week I was helping a friend out of town by running his paper route. I got home 30 minutes before it happened. I was talking to my roommate for a while and she went to take a shower. I turned the tv on and the first plane had just hit. I yelled as she got out of the shower that she had to see this. I watched on tv for an hour and then went to the entertainment store next door because Nickelbacks first cd had come out that day (spare making fun of me for listening to nickelback. I took a lot of heat over that back then
