  I have lives in North Dakota and Minnesota all of my life and have never seen the northern lights. I though I did last year...but it was just the ice in the air reflecting the lights from a big car dealership...

  There was actually alot of sightings just a few weeks ago, as far south as Iowa and Nebraska, saw some photos of it. My best guess would be that you can see it about once a year in the northern us
