Anyways. Anonymous has yet to do anything that actually causes harm. Their intrusions tend to be used only to make a point. At least a far as I know. I haven't really followed them that closely

Anonymous usually has a very sensible reason to hack, theyhacked PSN because they wouldnt let them jailbreak ps3's even though its their own property, and theyre just shutting down a server temporarily lol

It is better to be violent if there is violence in our hearts, than to put on the clock of nonviolence to cover impotence.

Pretty much a DDoS, they get script kiddies to run a script which sends floods site requests or floods ping requests at a target. Servers can only handle so many requests before they bog down and temporarily crash. Then they reset the servers and it's good as new, no damage or info lost. Just a denial of service. It's sad they get so much media attention to encourage them. They aren't fighting to be noble it's always for personal selfish reasons or for the lulz. -
Anonymous has turned away from being a movement and sprinted towards being a fad for anybody with a computer that's craving attention.

Well. Anonymous plan worked though. Because of them sopa and pipa were squashed

It's selfish because they're not in it to defend our rights. Like with the PSN they attacked them not because we should have the freedom to do what we please with products we purchased but because they were upset they couldn't use that right to use hacks to STEAL. Now with the sopa/pipa, they didn't do it to defend freedom of speech, they were upset about megaupload. Also, you credited anonymous for quashing the bill, I feel they had 0 effect on it and may even prove how a bill similar to that is needed. I credit citizens that petitioned and protested against it and how many websites 'blacked out' to raise awareness and protest.

These days it's a bunch of unorganized script kiddies ddosing sites (only to have them be taken down for less than an hour) and bragging about their victories on twitter. Lost all respect for the Anonymous collective (not a group) after Operation Payback in 2010.

I thought it was a well balanced response. Eye for an eye, site for a site. Lol -
