Star trek; no comparison

I like the concept of star trek and Gene Roddenberry's vision of the back story, and settings, more than the actual show or movies. Ideas like The Federation of planets, and ships equipped with warp speed travel to scout the universe, were revolutionary for their time. But then you have the shows and movies. The characters are very interesting at first glance. But then over time they just kept seeming more and more corny and unrelateable.Star trek; no comparison

Neither. They both have the same number of letters in the name. So neither is good.

Stargate by far.
-
Stargate is more believable. The humans are exploring space with no ships or special weapons.
-
The patter in Stargate is really good too. Star Trek is as dry as toast. Stargate also uses Human myths and legends while giving some well thought up ideas on how to make it more plausible than Warp factor 9 or transporter beams.

When was the last time you watched Stargate? They had tons of special weapons and spaceships, oh and don't forgot about that whole wormhole thingy, what was it called again, oh the stargate. At least with Star Trek it was based in the future, where technological advances would come about. Star Trek is much better the Stargate, but I like them bothStargate is more believable. The humans are exploring space with no ships or special weapons.

They had special weapons but they came about later when the Asgard shared technology with them. We got to see the characters develop into what they are.

Any 501st members here?

I like them both, but I'm going to go with trek for a few reasons. I felt it was generally more innovative than gate, as it presented a much wider array of cultures and problems that spoke to issues that humanity has to deal with.

Though I think addmitedly SG:U was on it's way to being like that. I was really disappointed when it got canned.
-
I think I'd have to swing towards star trek.
I loved the first couple of seasons of gate though but then as with most shows, it just got plain dumb.
Star trek I think has been more consistant. I was a huge generations fan. Lol

Jack o'neil and teal'c hilarious.... Sg1 was great, but trek before it was good too... Di hard to decide

Like both. Just going to add I was so gutted when enterprise got scrubbed. That was the best thing to happen to the trek franchise in years

I second that! Although the intro music was very non trek like. I blame the music for the downfall. :)...I was so gutted when enterprise got scrubbed. That was the best thing to happen to the trek franchise in years

There is no choice... They both have a great series.. And both have less successfull spinoffs: Startrek ds9 and stargate universe.. Still think they are both brilliant.. And it sucks they are no longer.. Just waiting for another movie...

Star Trek generations was the only one I could watch 😄
The rest of the star treks were to boring for me butOne of my favorite shows of all time is Stargate. Ten seasons was not enough. I was pacified by Stargate Atlantis 😄
But Stargate universe was harder to get into but turned out pretty good 😉And Amanda Tapping (from Stargate) is the reason I started watching Sanctuary
😻 Love that show 😻
SyfChannel has gotten way to reality show based for me though and the "movies" they play are facepalm quality 😄
