It's the culture that Americans and some Canadians live in. The obsession with gangs and violent social groups cause teenagers sense of reality to be slightly skewed. Those who can't think for themselves enough become a problem to society. I may the ability and knowledge to create a pipe bomb while also being immersed in gang culture but that doesn't mean I will. I may have weapons of a extremely deadly nature but that doesn't mean I will shoot up a school. This is because I have self control and a good grasp on reality. When a group of individuals without self control or a sense of reality you get unreasonable violence.

Were not talking gang land. More colombine like if anything. I'm out on Long Island in a good district. Just messed up kids. Some 16yo girl and her 18yo mentally challenged Boyfriend.

It all boils down to family.. What goes on in homes. Love how the older generation too talks about the younger one as if they have nothing to do with it. On the flip side, it's also not entirely on parents but at some pt kids have to accept responsibilty & grow up. Sorry to hear that tho. V

Shitty thing is when I was in shool we had "bomb" threats but it was really just kids trying to play pranks. This was in the late 90's way b4 911. Now they actually try to do it.

Drizzy u r right it's not all about family but it starts there first becuz the foundations are set in place, as we grow up into the teens, the environment, friends etc will influence more. But at the same time, see if any parent who no matter what believes in their kid& supports them will we not see a champion in the making. Not making excuses but it sure helps if parents took it upon themselves & started at home first.

I think it's all of the above bit I did hear something about this kid having mental problems so I'm sure that didn't help don't know about his family life yet or lack of but I'm sure I'll hear all the news in the next few days.

I think it's just the pressure. Maybe family could be involved, but also kids at sports club or in your neighbourhood.aIt all boils down to family.. What goes on in homes. the real choice is wether you decide to follow them or not. I've read somewhere boys follow to be in a 'group' while girls would follow to look better to others. If you have a bad entourage, (for ppl who don't know that means the people around you) and you happen to either have a low self esteem or if you're used to have people think for you, then you'll probably do that mistake. -
Fucking retards, eh?

I agree with all of this. Not every kid who grows up in a crappy environment ends up doing stuff like this but typically the ones that do grew up missing a lot of things ftheir parents should have given them.Drizzy u r right it's not all about family but it starts there first becuz the foundations are set in place, as we grow up into the teens, the environment, friends etc will influence more. Yeah I heard about this last night. Smfh, the crazies are messing up the world.

It's the old nature versus nuture debate, except it turns out that both are important, like Drizzy said. Although I find it amusing that it seems each generation says, "what is wrong with kids today," about the next generation. Part of it is being in the information age. It's now easier than ever before to found out how to build things like bombs, etc. It's also easier to connect with others that feel the same way. It's also harder for parents to monitor their kids when they have such easy access to the Internet and often know more about using computers than their parents (like working around parental controls.) parents have to start teaching morals from an early age, like by age 2. They have to keep reinforcing these, as well as modeling them, and really get to know their child & child's personality.
-
Once a kid becomes a teenager, it's too late to start teaching these things (but they should continue reinforcing them.) Teenagers will rebel but you have to hope they will remember & fall back on what you have already thought them & do the right thing more often than the wrong thing. They will make mistakes, we all do, you just have to hope they aren't serious life changing/life ending mistakes.
