For all of those in the military, I have been promoted to E2 for my pqs test. Recently at my local office a new chief was appointed. Apparently I am back to E1. I'm pissed. I talked to my recruiter (I know they all lie) and he keeps putting me off, telling me I can't retake the test because he is too busy. I'm not that great at being assertive and polite at the same time. What is the best action to take?

I was in the US Navy for five years and I would recommend routing a chit asking to retake the exam. It will get your side of the story to your chain of command.

I have it on my contract. He's bs-ing me. I just called a friend who just so happens to be the chiefs boss's boss (confusing I know). He is going to fix it for me.

I'm calling BS! If you have a contact like that, why ask for obsolete help! If it's true, he obviously downgraded you for being a block head!I have it on my contract. He's bs-ing me. Man you people are nuts. She was asking if it was better to be polite, or assertive on the issue. She's new to the military. ..
As far as that goes, if the issue is important, like this one, deffinatly the best action is going over their heads. glad to hear its being handled. Your commanding officer sounds like a lazy *****. -
You're definitely not AF by the sounds of it, so I couldn't give an exact answer (E-1 to E-4 is based on time and no one can say otherwise for us). The best bet would be to review your original contract and take it to a promotions or personel office (or whatever your branch calls it). They tried the same thing when I was supposed to get E-4. Took my contract over, and wound up getting 2 months back pay

Remember that until you get to in processing, the only person who will advocate for you is YOU. don't be afraid to be firm and assertive, very shortly you won't have the power to do so. I'm not saying to ask for the moon, but make sure you're getting exactly what you're signing up for. Starting basic as an E2 rather than E1 will set the pace for all future promotions, and set you apart from the sea of E1's a tiny bit. Get it fixed.

Mk ultra is right. It's YOUR career, not the recruiters. Don't settle for less. They have quotas to fill and will try an talk you into some bullshit. Re-reading your post, it sounds like you're not in the military just yet. So yeah, don't take any guff from these swine.Remember that until you get to in processing, the only person who will advocate for you is YOU. don't be afraid to be firm and assertive, very shortly you won't have the power to do so.
