I have a 1978 Chevy Cheyenne and I don't know how to unsize the engine pls help.

Eerrrr as far as I know you can't unsize..... You can bore out the cylinders to make it larger, unless I'm not understanding you correctly

Cold water always works on me. 😳

Just open the hood grab you biggest hammer and 🔨🔨🔨🔨 then pull all the spark plugs and fill those holes with sand. Replace the spark plugs and poof. Just like new👍
-
Do you mean you have a seized engine?

The only method I know for unseizing an engine is to rip it out and rebuild it :/.

I would try using penetrating oil first by shooting oil down into the cylinder through the spark plug hole, and don't be shy - use a lot of the stuff. If you have the patience for it, spray some in every day for about two weeks, followed by gently tapping on the cylinder wall with a hammer handle. This sets up vibrations that help the oil penetrate between the rings and the cylinder wall. After soaking the engine for a while try rotating the crankshaft.

The only reliable way to do it and have an engine after the fact is to rebuild it, especially if you don't know why it seized. If it was running before it was parked then penetrating oil in the cylinders might break it loose. However if it seized when warm then I would tear it down since something may be screwed up. If its been sitting for more than a couple years a clogged oil channel will spin a bearing fast.

ThaXks guys butt looks like the only way ii am goin to get it is by rebuilding it
Wish me luck.! -
I would do a compression test on the cylinders to make sure the case hasnt cracked, then remove the head, and take out the ancillaries... Maybe get a salvage top end and lash it in? Did u run it with no oil or is the pump acting up?
-
It might be cost effective to just do an engine swap.

Everyone here is missing some important info. I am a fairly skilled mechanic whose not afraid to do "good enough" or temporary repairs when the budget doesn't allow for the proper repair to be done, but the vehicle is necessary. First off how did the engine seize? Was it running or sitting? How long has it been since it last ran?

To unsieze it you get a rubber mallet. Wack the shit out of it. Get the rust n shit off it. Smother it in WD40 and it should work.

Because it was running first and not sitting for years I would say you are looking at a rebuild if you want to keep driving it. Was it making any unusual noises?
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was a spun bearing. Small block Chevys don't like to run low on oil.

^^ yea it was

My friend (13) says the best way is to completely rebuild the engine. How long has it been sitting?

Bleach & ammonia. lol plz don't

Sorry, did it lose power and stop? Or did u hear any rattling before the final turn of the engine??? Also is it manual or automatic? That part is important

Pity its auto, you could have tried putting it in third and rolling it, using the weight of the engone to turn the crank.... If there was a rattle, the rods might have came of the crank which means u may need a bottom end rebuild. Bit its just a matter of stripping the engine and takong it one step at a time.... If u are down to a last resort, and happy to purchase a new engine, u could try something drastic, flood the case throught the top with oil, and (i mean flood) , better with engine out) remove exhaust and air in piping and fill with lint free cloth to stop oil burning.. Then tap the crank back and forth every day.... Sounds like a rebuild tbh
-
When i say the lint free cloth sto oil burning, its to stop oil flowing down the exhaust so when u start up the engine again or replace it, u wont have oil deposits in the manifold or water gallery, hope this helps :)
