Obviously this is an exploit and should be avoided. I know of multiple players who experience this and don't abuse it. While we can't fix it (we get the GPS data from your device), it's really, really easy for us to detect and check if you're exploiting it.
Several players are banned daily for using GPS spoofers to plant turf in random places, and taking advantage of incorrect locations, even if you didn't cause them to happen, is just another form of cheating. I suggest you tear down any turfs you've created because of this issue.
If you are experiencing this issue, we recommend visiting Skyhook's router update page at http://www.skyhookwireless.com/howitworks/submit_ap.php - this will fix your location for ALL apps on your device.

Using it to gain an advantage would be wrong. And obviously, being placed in a new (second) location is a huge advantage.

Do it. I claimed turf on the way to work today (had to do something on my 40 min walk). I'd do the same if I was traveling anywhere. After all, the mob didn't stay in Russia, or the yakuza in Japan.

I'd also like to add/ask, what if I moved house? I live in the north east of England, but what if I moved down south or to another country? Would you still think that was cheating?

It's happened to me, didn't do it. Wouldn't piss me off if he did, but the honest thing to do is not turf. I do give props for the post, it's a lot better than most of the high school bs in here lately.
