I finally got round to calculating the cost of hopping with the assistance of all loot upgrades.
@ 138 inf = $ 2.72 million / mile
@ 118 inf = $ 1.92 million / mile
The above is calculated assuming a turf placement cost of $150k per turf which increases in populated areas.
It continues to be cost effective to hop @ 118 inf until the turf placement cost exceeds $ 3.5 million per turf.
Furthermore the number of turf placements required to travel a distance of 25 miles with all loot upgrades is
@ 138 inf = 36 turfs / mile
@ 118 inf = 42 turfs / mile

PL. I started from scratch and just used the $150k placement cost from Matt's formula. I'll have a look at it again for hopping @ 66 inf and @ 86 inf.

Building at max range of an 86 inf. turf costs me 1.1 million.
A 138 influence turf 1,000
Don't ask me why.

Everyone always leaves out the 69 influence hop. Grafitti, Collectors, Razor Wires, and the upgrades. 1 hop costs about 75k in dead zones. You only add a few days to your trip compared to 135 influence except it's much cheaper. If you're absolutely broke you can 50 influence hop for only the cost of placing.
Considering most noobs like myself can't afford 135 influence hops to a nearby airport or across a country this is quite a good option.

I have had requests to do the formula for 112, 86 & 66 inf hopping so I'll try to get data on those.
