Are you talking skill points or respect points?

Skill I always got three. Respect, it's supposed to be random. I've got anywhere from 1-3 myself.

I know I get them for levellibg up. But now I'm getting five skill points instead of three!?

Is it possible you forgot to spend two of them from your last level up?

That's hapened to me randomly
out of nowhere one or two time I'll get 5 points and then it will go back to three
