Why attack players?
Forums › Help & Strategy › Why attack players?-
What advantage is there to attacking players? Can you get ahead without doing so? Just not sure what strategy there is and why random attacks are favorable or discouraged.

Attacking people helps you level up and in some cases significantly increases your income. Random attacks on mobsters are not discouraged. Random attacks on turfs is discouraged. There is a perceived "acceptable" method for leveling up and it doesn't include attacking turf. That is to be used for capturing turf and sending a message. There are various view points concerning turf attacking though.

I've fought players and lost, but attacked their turf and won.
If you are in a croeded city, you can attack turf to lower influence which may help you become Capo. Even if you can't capture the turf.
The game is called turf Wars after all, and not Mobster wars.

Attacking a turf can slow another player's growth so you can grow.

Chainsaw, it seems you've missed the part about sending a message. In a crowded area attacking turf is a necessary part of the game and totally acceptable. If I were to attack your turf from Springfield, Missouri, however would be a douchebag move. See the difference?

Yes, I see the difference.
But I'm in an area where there are very few players and no one close enough to capture. I am however close enough to attack/be attacked.
For me to get close enough to be able to capture a turd would involve airfare, as I live on an island with no other means of inter-island travel.
It's a game. It's war. And as far as I'm concerned, all is fair as long as it's within a certain range of levels.

turf not turd.
Oops.
