(Requesting) Protection Money
Forums › Help & Strategy › (Requesting) Protection Money-
This is a mob game, and we all know how the mob work... We know it can be ruthless to say the least.. I'm interested in Protection. We all know that mafias will demand protection money from businesses, and if
they don't offer up, than said business will find itself burnt to
the ground!! Ok, Now that we are all on the same page, I want to know how you feel and think about (Requesting) lol.. Protection money from other players. And let's be honest... We all have to be some what ruthless to be playing a game like this in order to get what we need!! -
I personally like to try and work out deals!! And try to offer up help in some way if they agree to the deal. But, unfortunately... Will take if it is needed and said player does not want to cooperate with me.. For example..
-
I will (Request) protection money if I see an area with a good potential and only a few players that haven't built the area up and made it profitable. Say they have 25 turf in the area that one could easily hop from one to the other if they felt the need, but with no other players close enough to make the area profitable. I might (Request) that they romove 2 Razor Wires from 3 or 4 turf so that I can collect protection from them without having to waste loot... So I will collect my protection money, and in return, extend my hand to the player and offer help within reason, such as advice or ask them to tag along and grow with me and learn from each other. Also, once I'm collecting from them, I will build up the area around them and fill in gaps and get my allies and tag alongside to lay down turf as well..
-
In turn, making the area more profitable for all. And in the end, said player I'm collecting from has 20 or so turf left that I will not touch and will earn far more from the newly built up area than they would ever be (Requested to pay.... Understand? Good... Now all are more profitable and have more green to grow from.
-
That's the method I like to use, ends well for all... And I will not cap the area unless really wanted, but not likely.. Could care less about the cap for now, just want to grow... And if said player does not want to cooperate, well then, just have to see! Depends on how many other players are in the area, and how bad the area needs profit... Sacrifice a little, to let many stronger... But said players attitude might have something to do with it.. Lol
So, how do you feel on the subject, and what are some of your methods?
-
Feel this thread will help many, not only to grow, but to understand the benefit of sacrifice!!
-
My advice... Never take without giving something in return... At least when it comes to protection money.. 😜
-
I let new players tax me sometimes, if they seem like they are good players, and could grow into good allies someday. Then I offer the protection without anything in return lol. Not all mob organizations are totally ruthless. Over time other players in the area, and I make more cash since the area around me flourishes with new players, and property values increase.
Taxing a newer player and making like $2k-5k/turf an hour off them while their growth gets hindered from lack of cash flow, isn't as profitable over, let's say three months, as seeing all 30-40 turfs I have in an area go from 21.3k an hour to 32.6k, then 41k, then 48k, and so on. If the player is already established however then taxing is a different story.
-
Pretty much everyone wins if you hold off taxing players with less than 100 turfs or so. You got to give the noobs time to get fully addicted to TW. Then you can count on your turf incomes making more for months and months to come. If a noob gets frustrated and rage quits over you taxing them and slowing down their gameplay, then all you are left with are 12 worthless 40inf turfs to tax, when you might have had 100s months from then.

Everyone has ways they like to play. For the most part I try to only collect protection $ from inactive players. The only time I collect from noobs is if they have trouble understanding the don't attack turf concept & they are under level 15. I'll answer anyone's questions, regardless (or point them to the place where their question is already answered).
IMO noobs have enough money issues with affording upgrades & buying weapons. If you do choose to collect protection $ from them, I hope you at least make sure to tell them to buy police protection & not buy defensive upgrades.

I personally always try and find a way to help a player out that I'm collecting from. And like everyone else, I try not to hit noobs.. Try for inactives. I'm talking more about active players, players that are preferably around my level to those a little higher... Un less like you all, they are a player that has just pissed you off and refuses to listen to you or the advice you have tried to give... They just want to attack. Anyways... Want to make sure we all understand we aren't really talking about noobs... Hell, I could be classified as a noob myself.. We want to talk about diff methods of getting protection money from diff players, preferably active players around our own size and stats. Maybe diff methods of getting money in general.. Active methods... Not just building turf to get money, or collecting from inactives. Methods that actually required you to get off your ass and work for to get ahead!! And like I say in earlier example.. I always try to give back to the community... Robin Hood style!! Lol
-
I hate paying protection so I don't really have much input here, lol.
-
Lol.. Do you hate earning it to.. Lol that's what it's about..
-
Actively working methods to earn money from other active players...
-
No, I don't hate earning it. But when I tend to cap anyone that collects from me or move my turf, depending on the circumstances, this leads me to mostly just collect from inactives. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with your idea, just that I don't have much to say on the subject.
