Why am i paying upkeep on proporties that i dont have defenses on??? And no other people are near me..

I just asked the same question earlier today. Apparently, if you are not Capo of that particular area, you're basically "forced" to pay for protection. Once you do, the upkeep fee will go away.

This has worked for me so far but there might be other ways to avoid the upkeep fee...

Police protection. You will pay this in any location where you are not the capo.

Some weapons and armor also have upkeep costs.

Im capo and pay upkeep. Thé worst is that there is 2 capo for this place. Wtf?
