You can only plant turf at supported airports, NOT any airport. Read the Announcements on your home screen to learn what airports are supported.
Not all airports connect to all other airports. With the addition of the new airports on June 4th, it seems the 6,000 mile rule is no longer in effect.
You receive your next plane ticket (pt) 2 weeks from the last time you used a plane ticket. You CANNOT accumulate them.
When a person is under a certain amount of influence in a city, that city does not show up on their profile (when using the city view.) You must use the old way, and look to see where each individual turf is located to find all the cities they are in.
Read the announcements to learn about the combat disadvantages of flying.

Plane tickets are NOT loot; they CANNOT be looted.

The airports opened on May 1st have a range of 10,000 km (6,214 miles). The airports opened on June 4th have a range of 2,500 km (1,553 miles).

Regardless of whether there is a close airport or not, you have to be able to plant your own turf to fly. If you are over limit then you need to increase your limit with don points and/or tear down turf.
You can request an airport near you be opened. There is a thread for that in the suggestion forum. If or until that happens, you will have to go there in rl or hop.

Beware and think of the consequence it has when an airport nearby is opened.. Yes it is nice to fly to other parts of the world but other larger and some not so nice mob can fly into your city as well.. Also most airports u need to land and run before your turf is captured and you at square one..
-
To use a game-supported airport, you must plant your turf within the 2 mile radius of the airport.
-
Airports are NOT the main point of the game; they are only a tool!
-
Is there a recommended way to improve your chances of keeping an airport turf (deterring someone from capping), given the likelihood of building in an area where a good amount of higher ranked players are nearby? Like, does it matter for me to keep the turf influence low, or better to be at 86?
I already got 1 of 2 airport turfs capped (without warning)... So short of PMing everyone in the vicinity to please let me be, is there anything else I can do? -
If someone is looking for money; they won't get any by tearing down a 1 inf turf. The best thing you can do is just plant plenty of turf there. You should also plant some a short hop away so you can hop back if you get capped out if the airport.
When you fly into a location, make sure to hop some safety turf out to a place where you can't be capped.
-
Is there a recommended mob size if planing to travel to reduce risk of capping immediately?

It can depend on where you are flying. Typically there are players of all sizes around airports though. The best thing you can do hop somewhere safe immediately & plant lots of turf. Ok .. Question... Say I have turf at a certain a p and my ticket comes tomorrow, I have turf out side my desired ap of which I would like to fly, if I hop in tonight can I get a flight out tommorow, if I haven't made myself clear I would welcome any pms.. Thankyou
-
Once you have your ticket, you can hop in and fly. Or hop in before and fly when ticket becomes valid.
You sometimes have a high chance of being capped when at the airport.
Sometime you have to wait a few minutes for the computer to catch up. -
If the airport's creation zone is filled with pink/red, that means it has been closed by other players. (This can be purposeful or accidental.)
To plant turf there, you will need to ask another player to create a space for you or create a space yourself by capping your way in.
Airport Turf Planting Tips (By Hyena & Mystery):
1) Scan the map & see if you have any allies at the airport. If you do, ask them to make you an opening.
2) If you don't have any allies there, try asking the capo. Be aware that if the capo is busy, you may get a delayed response or no response.
3) If the capo denies your request, don't question it - just accept and ask the next largest player.
4) Mob up. (Players generally get a bit more respect when others can see they've put some effort into the game.
Note: Some airports are closed due to various wars between alliances. If this is the case, it may not be opened for anyone.

In most cases (for new players), you should establish a steady income before even considering flying. You should already have equipped your total mob (whatever the size) with at least full non-upkeep weapons & armor. If you can’t afford to do that, then it’s unlikely you’ll be able to afford the cost of planting at 2 airports plus the cost of additional turfs when you land. IMO, you should also be a high enough level that you can build 86 inf turfs.
