Attack and defense when attacking turfs?

Ok I know to win in a fight you need 30% more attack than their defense.
But how does it work when attacking turfs? Is it the same just with attack and defense and a 30% rule? Does level come into it? Does turf influence or overall influence come into it? How much effect do turf defensive upgrades have? Do they just add their defense value to your overall defense score or do they have a greater impact?
Finally, if you fulfil the capture checklist, before you capture their turf, do you first have to attack it till it's health is depleted before you're allowed to capture it?

turfs have slightly more defense then the player but if you can beat the player the majority of the time you should win against the turf almost as often.
Yes, you have to have it down to 0 and win once more to capture. In fact that's the only win that matters. If you attack it and lose every fight, you still damage it. If you can just win one fight after it's at 0 you will capture it even if you lost each previous fight.

No, if you buy the defensive upgrades they do matter. Most people don't have them because they lower the income of the turf too much. The turf will use your defense and their own defensive upgrades.
A turf is always stronger then the player who owns it but usually not by very much. Even with full defensive upgrades it would only make a difference if the attacker is around your same strength. But because we're dealing with both percentages and hard numbers it depends a lot on the individual circumstances. So a 500 mob isn't going to repeal a 1000 mob no matter what their putting into turf defense. But a 500 mob vs. a 750 mob, for them it would make all the difference.

OT - is there any way to speed up energy recharge rate? It seems to be 1E per 4 minutes.
