What does a mob do for you?

I have seen some players with large mobs and others with smaller mob counts. What exactly does your mob numbers do for you? Do you need to be a Capo of an area before your mob's strengths and skills are leveraged during attacks/defenses? I am just wondering if it is worth having a large mob, or better to keep a mob number that is manageable...
Additionally, does it matter if a prospective mob member is outside your area "you and your turf are too far away"???Thanks for any insight!

Mob members simply carry and use your weapons and armour. Each member can have one weapon and one piece or armour each. So your attack and defense is based on how many mob members you have and what weapons you have for them to use. That's all there is to it

It does not matter where mob members are. If they are in your mob and they are armed they fight for you. Get all you can when you can. Its theost important number in the game. Don't worry if you can't afford to arm a large mob right away. You can always buy weapons later for them.

And recruit as often as you can...people start the game up and may not always stay interested, so their accounts go dormant. If you can catch their code while they're playing, then they are in your mob indefinitely unless I am mistaken...
Dormant accounts don't get dropped from your mob list do they? What about when a person deletes their account? I sure this has been addressed somewhere...but until someone implements my forum search idea, I'll never find it :(

the mob member is just the number of weapons you can use, as said above.
If a player stops playing they remain in your mob. They only leave your mob if they specifically remove you or they reset.
