This thread is a grouping of information from a lot of the players mostly veteran players who all contributed these answers through forum discussion and they deserve all the credit for this thread...Credit to: Belial, ChainsawCharlie, Mystery, ~Matt~, El Borges, Johnny Cage, Daverrrr.
Ok this thread is to address the most frequently asked questions in the forum and keep them all in one place. Belial has a done a great job with the FAQ forum but I have consolidated the forum with all the questions and respective answers that were discussed in the thread. To make this successful help me by PM me (Daverrrr) and I will add the question and answer to the post once I have talked to the vet players. -
1) How to become a capo?
Answer: by having the most influence in a city (note in that city not your total influence)
Note: If you go to the top mobsters tab and click on influence and choose your area it will tell who has that cities capo and how many influence points they have for that city.
Note: There are no actual state Capo’s. The state capos you see are just owners of turf in an area that isn’t recognized as being part of a city.2) What benefits do I get for being Capo?
Answer: You get free police protection in the area you are Capo of and that is it. All other areas where you are not Capo you will still have to pay for police protection to avoid hourly income penalties on your turfs. Capo titles are also good for bragging rights…3) How come I can’t use all of my weapons?
Answer: because each mob member gets one weapon and one armor only in a fight so the more mob you have the more weapons you use. -
4) Why am I making negative money?
Answer: it’s because your upkeep is greater than your income. Either you have too many weapons or you have defensive upgrades. Sell off the excess baggage to get your income back on track.5) What is a bump?
Answer: a bump is a way of pushing your thread to the top of the forum without causing the discussion to go off track I.E.: reply to your original post and it will be bumped to the top but so the thread does not get to long and take a lot of time loading delete previous bump replies.
6) Why do a bump?
Answer: to keep it back at the top like the help forums and also you can do this in the invite forum instead of cluttering it with the same posts over and over. This will help consolidate the invite forum. -
7) Can someone please explain all the new loots and what they do?
Answer: See Mystery forum “LOOT Explained”
8) How to capture turf?
Answer: See President Nixons thread “How to use the capture checklist”. & ChainsawCharlie thread “HOW TO: Capture Turf Rev. 12/10
(Note: if you go over you Max Turf Limit you will still get money for those turfs you capture you just cannot build new turf yourself until you are under you Turf Max Limit)
9) What is the max amount of Turf you can capture in a day?
Answer: It is based on who’s capping how…It varies based on I believe strength, influence, and level.
-
10) What do you do if someone is stealing a lot of turf from you?
Answer: First comment the attacker asking them to stop, it may work. Then mob up by punching codes in your mob invite. Make sure you have one weapon and armor per mob member, if you are just starting out go for the get the grenades or ak47’s if you can afford the upkeep. Hit back at your attacker, if you’re still to weak perhaps you need help via a vendetta. (for vendetta questions check out the forum “Vendettas 101”)
11) How does the game define a city?
Answer: it is done completely by google maps with a lil program added.
-
12) What factors constitute the increase of a turf’s income?
Answer: It is based on your turf upgrades; also how many other players’ turf is close by (the more players the more income for the turf and when a closer player leaves your turf income goes down). If you are the only one in a city and you build more turf there it will do nothing for your other turfs income it is all based on player population not turf population.
13) How do I get a bigger mob?
Answer: Post your code in the invite code forum and bump it as often as you can; also visit one of the online code sites and enter codes until you can’t take it anymore, then repeat till you have entered all of the codes.
(it will take awhile because there are lots of inactive players out there and then once you invite them it will take awhile for them to accept the invite. You will get about a 70% return for your efforts…hopefully)Note: you will find your invite code under the mob tab and at the bottom of the mob, invite mob, ect tabs.
-
14) How do I leapfrog or hop to another city?
Answer: there are several theories to this but the one that is the most effective and mostly used is to build a turf upgrade it to either 64 or 84 inf (most use 64 if they are just trying to get somewhere and plan to tear it down; then build another turf in the direction you want to travel using the green build circle from your turf then build and upgrade to 64 or 84 inf again; continue doing this until you reach your destination.
(you can tear down the 1st turf as you go so you can build more over all but make sure you leave some sort of safety net turf because if you go into a city and have one turf built and someone captures it then you will have to go to the closest turf to start again. Leave one close to the city until you get well established.)Note: This is a good way of breaking out of a city you do not want to be in. Another way to get out of a city is to physically drive there with your device and then build from your gps location.
-
15) How does att & def work?
Answer: You get one point on your total for each skill point spent to raise. (Currently a complete waste of skill points because it only goes up by one point better to use those skill points for energy and stamina instead and then use your mob and weapons for def & att.
-
16) Understanding Turf Limits: Why do people have a lot of turf and are still building more and what is the turf limit? How do I increase my turf limit?
Answer: Max Turf limits can be increased two different ways: (1) Certain Experience Levels award you with a single Turf limit increase (2) You can also spend Don Points to increase your Turf Limit. (Note: you can buy two for 12 Don Points each but then the price goes up by 1 for every 2 you buy. This increase will decrease by one every 24 hours until you are back to 12 Don Points again.)
You can capture Turf’s which can put you over your Max Turf limit at which time you will be unable to build new turf until you are back at your Max Turf Limit by tearing down, leveling up or buying with Don Points.17) Does my Turf influence circle (turf size) grow over time or just by upgrades?
Answer: Turf circle grows through influence upgrades only some you can buy and some are loot items; the highest is 84 which has a radius of .6 miles.
-
18) Where do I find all those little icon symbols people are using in their posts?
Answers: You have to go to the app store and download/install the free app called Emoji (Note: make sure you are downloading the right one for the system you are using because there are different ones for IPhone and IPad. ) Once you download it following the instructions for installing it and then go to your settings click general>international>keyboards> and then select Emoji from your list. If you do not see it on your list you did not install or activate the Emoji app correctly.

19) How do I earn Protection Money for someone?
Answer: Protection Money (not Police Protection) is either earned or paid under the following circumstances: One player must have a Turf that has a higher influence than another players Turf AND the influence ring of the higher influence Turf must intersect at least half of the lower influenced Turf.
The best way to earn protection money is to find a turf that has an influence below 84 (the lower it is the easier it will be to put your Turf through50% of theirs), lay down a Turf as close as possible & max out its influence. Inactive players are perfect for mooching protection money from. The more turf you cover the more protection money it pays.
(Note: the influence of the other turf has to be less than your turf influence to get protection money)
(Note: it will take about 30 mins for the server to catch up and start paying) -
(Note: View your turf screen and at the bottom of each turf you will see a break down of information including how much money you are getting from that turf for protection.)
20) There are a ton of pages in these forums, is there any way to search for a topic to see if it has been addressed in the past?
Answer: http://www.google.com/search?q=site:http://turfwarsapp.com/forum [Enter search term here]
(Credit to President Nixon…thanks)Note: Copy the address of the forum you want to search, then go to google advanced search and paste the addy in the last box. That is the easy way to do it.
21) Is there a way to send spare respect points to a friend?
Answer: No, otherwise people could abuse it to get lots of respect points through multiple accounts and since this it takes a lot to keep Turf Wars going on a day to day basis you need to purchase them so they can have revenue to keep it going.
-
22) What is the 30% Mob Size Factor?
Answer: the 30% Mob Size Factor is the resulting ratio of an attacker’s total att stat (with maxed body armor & RPG’s) over a defender’s def stat (with maxed body armor & miniguns)
So the ratio of the combined att stat of RPG’s & body armor over the combined def stats of the minigun & body armor is what creates the 30% factor. See breakdown below:Body Armor: att=2, def=15
Miniguns: att=18, def=16
RPG’s: att=22, def=14Say both mobs have 1k members…here’s the breakdown:
Attacker: has 1k body armor & 1k RPG’s
Att=(2+22)*1k = 24k (att on body armor is 2, att on RPG’s is 22)
Defender: has 1k body armor & 1k miniguns
Def=(15+16)*1k = 31k (def on armor is 15, def on miniguns is 16)
Ratio: 24k/31k = 1.2917 = roughly 30%So the attacker needs to have 1.3*1k mob members to win consistently which is 1.3k mob.

23) When a turf gets attacked and damaged how does it regain health back?
Answer: You can either heal turf in the turfs menu or it will heal naturally over time.
24) What is a Vendetta?
Answer: it’s a way for players to combine their mobs to fight targeted players. If say we each have a 1k mob force if we joined a vendetta when we attack our targeted player it will combine our forces so we will hit them with a mob size of 2k.
25) How do I destroy a Turf in a Vendetta?
Answer: See President Nixons HOW TO: thread.
26) Do defense upgrades to turf such as machine gun nests help?
Answer: Help is a relative term. They certainly add defense, but how strong is the attacker? Most defense comes from mobbing up and arming your mob.
-
27) What is a mule/muler?
Answer: Muling is when a player has several Turf Wars accounts installed on more than one device that they control and they use one account to boost the other.
For example: a player would use one account to build turfs (this would be the mule account) while they use the other (main) account to capture them.
Mule accounts are also used to bully & can be used in vendettas. Its not against the ‘unwritten’ rules to have & play more than one account, you just can’t use one account to benefit the other.
The most common scenario is most likely when a player has both an iPhone and an iPod or iPad; or a friend or family member doesn’t play Turf Wars but lets them use their device. -
28) How long does it take for turf to heal?
Answer: estimates / experience is 15-20 minutes per health point.

Answer: Yes, if you have a loot item like mocha shot or use Don Points, or level up)

Answer: Go to the Mission area and click police protects at the top and pay within game cash in each city (each city will be differently priced depending on how much turf you have in that city) or you can go to the Don and pay with respect points for Global Protection.
Note: its best to pay for in game cash unless you have a lot of Turf in different cities.
Police protection lasts 1 week and you can see how much time is left by going to the Mission area and click police protection.32) How do I get respect points for the Don without paying for them?
Answer: When you level up you get Don points; 1-3 points randomly.
Note: as a new player you start with 5 Don points and if friends sign up and use your invite code you get another 5 points for each friend that does that.33) How do I upkeep my weapons?
Answer: It’s done automatically; upkeep is figured into your hourly upkeep and taken out of your hourly profits.
-
37) Can I transfer my account to another device?
Answer: Yes, when you first log into the app on the new device there is an option to sign in on an existing account. Just sign in with your name and password.
38) Are having henchmen in your mob any different than normal players?
Answer: No, a henchmen is 1 additional member and adds no real benefit that you wouldn’t from other players, they just cost you respect points with the Don, just punch invites codes you’ll get there.
-
39) On the top right of my screen there are an old style phone, what is this for?
Answer: Helps new players (noobs) with tutorial about playing Turf Wars. If you are new do the tutorials, helps you and you get some loot.
40) What is a safe zone?
Answer: A “Safe Zone” is an area that one or a group of players have designated as no capping zone. It is not an official component of the game and is voluntary. If you cap in a safe zone then you will need a mob big enough to back up your actions, as the players that designated that area a safe zone will likely gang attack you for it.

-

Answer: Yes, but if someone captures the turf that has your Union Boss then that becomes theirs and you lose it so make sure you can defend him.
45) What is the advantage of having a Union Boss?
Answer: It increases income and turf influence, allowing you to collect protection from 84 inf turfs, which previously never paid protection.

49) Are new players protected?
Answer: The Don will protect almost all players under level 15 from bigger players. From levels 16-25, the Don will protect you if the player attacking you is significantly stronger than you or above level 40.

Answer: Crack the bank safe mission.
52) Can I reset my skill points?
Answer: No, what you click is what you got until you quit or reset.
53) How is Turf income established?
Answer: turf income is based on the number of different players in an area. The more crowded the more money it will make. With that said some Turf that is 84 inf may pay less than a turf in a crowded city that is 64 inf.
54) If I capture a turf can I rename it?
Answer: Nope, sorry.
-

Note: this is the color besides the normal black that can be change to.36) Why is my area of control still showing 0.0mi?
Answer: Your turf has to get to 84 influence and then it will read 0.1mi control
Note: it is not 0.1mi for every 84 inf turf it depends on how much overlap of your turf is to other turf you own. Example you own 17 turfs with 84 inf on all but your control is 0.7mi total. -

Davrrr, you really don't know much yet... Do you even understand the most critical piece of loot out there, the Whisky Shot? RTFM! Restores *all* stats and levels you up all in one go! ;) Mocha shots are sooooo yesterday's news! Rofl
