2 Questions on Cap & Expanding

Hello All,
I have two simple questions that keep bothering me.
1) aside from politics, when is it a good idea to capture a base? I am currently at my turf limit (17/17) so I'm stuck waiting to level and/or use respect points to buy new turfs. Obviously during this time I can capture turfs but I'm having a hard time decding when its a good time to do so.
2) hypothetically speaking, if I captured a lot of turfs, let's say in at 100/50 for my limit (over limit), how do you further expand? if no one is near me anymore, what would you do to expand more? Obviously one option is to tear down 50 turfs and rebuild elsewhere or to buy 50+ turfs via respec points (a lot of $cash). Is there any other productive ways?
Thanks in advance.

1) There really is no good time to capture turfs. You do it to further expand your coverage mostly. The key is more of when you don't do it. Don't wipe someone completely out the area (unless you're at war and want to wipe them out)...because you want their turfs in your area to increase your income. Take enough to expand your coverage and move on.
2) Some of the ways that the top players have used to expand is to coerce other players into building bridges for you to expand elsewhere in order to reach further turfs. Others have used the method you described and destroyed turfs to get back under their turf limit. If you're doing okay for money...a lot of your extra turfs aren't doing you any good if they are all clumped together, because it doesn't really expand your control area.

Thanks Night, all made sense. Can you further elaborat on the "bridging" part? I sort of understand but, would you have to capture evert single turf until you get to a desired location (through the bridge of turfs)? Or am I misunderstanding you?
