If someone has 84 influence in your are and you want to move in, is it better to just build close or close enough to overlap? I know that 84 protection rule but if you attack it to drop it down will you get protection then?

A turf that has 84 influence in an area you want to move into

It's better to build close as long as they can't or won't capture your turf. If you do attack the turf and you're on top of it, yes it'll pay protection after a few minutes.
-
And only until it heals back to 84 influence.
Turf has health just like a player. When you attack it, it damages the health and lowers it influence. And just like a player that's been fighting, the turf heals. And as it heals, it's influence rises.
And it can also be healed by it's owner, to a certain point, just like a player visiting The Doctor.

Ok thanks so is it better to just stay close and gain more money or try to take over? They have about ten or so 84 influence turf in a fairly close area of each other. Just didn't know my best bet in that situation. It does not seem to be a smart move to keep attacking only to get a small window of protection money.

You have to consider their strength as well.
If you move in and attack/try to capture, are you strong enough to pull it off?
And never capture all their turfs.
The more players in an are, the more money the turfs make.
-
Would it not be better to take all 10 turfs and make money from all of them as apposed to taking say 3 and even if it doubles the income that's only the same as 6.
I don't know if this is correct I'm asking. -
The income is only doubled for two players. More players still increase value, but it does not double.
From what I've seen one player in an area makes $9.5 on a full inf turf with no protection. Two is $18.7, three is $25.8 and four is $31.5. I don't know beyond that.
So capping a few is good, but you always want to leave some in the area.
Not to mention, it's just plain rude to take every single turf a player has.
