50% capture rule
Forums › Help & Strategy › 50% capture rule-
So, apologies to night for telling you you were wrong when I just wasn't paying close enough attention to what I was doing, and
Apologies to President Nixon if this info was in your thread already and I didn't give you proper credit.
And props to my daughter for putting up with all this nerdliness testing.

And, in regards to Pres, Nixon's thread, it was started 14 weeks ago.
Lots of changes have been implemented since then, and IMO, some areas have been overlooked and are in need of updating.

Hey guys, i should clarify because there are 2 rules in place that are dependent on influence - which I think is the source of confusion.
The attacking player's nearest turf must have > 50% the target turfs influence.
The distance between the centers of the capturing player's nearest turf and the target turf must be > 4x the radius of the target turf. This is the "capture distance" rule.
Hope this clears the issue once and for all!

Thanks for the clarification Nick...but in regards to the "capture distance" rule, I'm hoping you meant to say that it must be "< 4x the radius", not greater than...if I'm understanding it correctly. And I guess I will infer that the green influence radius we see is a close representation of 4x the radius of a turf's influence...which leads back to the "green influence rule" I've referred to elsewhere.

The only thing that's clear to me is that we're going to have to agree to disagree in regards to how we each believe forum information threads should be handled. I personally don't see the issue in starting a new thread, as it should be easy to summarize all of the pertinent info from your original thread and start a new one with the corrected checklist...and just let the other thread die...along with my other one. In another week or two it would be so far down the pages that no one would probably ever find them again. It's clear why you want your post to stay up, and it's obviously not why you say, so leave it up. I already know how to capture turf already so it's not hurting me either way.

I'm a little confused!
I have three turfs in new York city that I put at 42 inf cuz prez ill told me to saying then they can't be captured. is that wrong?
-
Yes.
ANY turf can be captured. The attacking turf has to have at least 50% of the target turfs influence.
So a 42 turf can be captured by any turf within the range of 21 to 84 influence.

Charlie is correct. If you want to avoid being captured, check the green influence radius of that turf and make sure it's not going through any turfs of someone who you think my capture it.I'm a little confused!

Thanks for clearing that up Nick.
MUCH appreciated.

so if all surrounding turfs are 84 and mine are 41, mine are still cappable? it's so clustered that I'm pretty positive I go through the radius
-
If they're close enough, they can be captured. A simple check you can do is hit the claim turf button. Any turf (21 inf or higher) that your build radius passes through the center of, can capture you. Build up to 42, and if you see the Capture button, they can cap you.
-
Steady Mobbin'...do what Charlie said...and then if you're still worried about getting capped, drop your influence enough so that your green influence doesn't go through them. It's possible that you'll have to reduce it so much that it's not worthwhile to keep the turf anymore. So if you want to keep your influence high enough to gain decent income, you take the risk of getting capped.
