As I'm sure everyone knows, there are dead spots on the roads, including many major roads and highways. Dead spots are caused by missing information in the geocoder. However, there are some different options & tools that can be used to get through MOST of theses dead spots.

1: The first thing to try on a dead spot is multi-tapping in the general direction you want to go. Tap at various distances, as sometimes a partial hop can give you enough reach to get over it.

2: If option 1 doesn't work, try placing a union boss on the turf as that increases your build range. (Or if you have been using the cheaper method, upgrade your turf so it has 100 influence.) **Make sure to remove the union boss before tearing down the turf or you will lose the UB! Again, try multi-tapping the area. (Sometimes there's an area that's recognized as being part of a road even though it's just empty space.)

3: Finally, when all else fails, resort to using police maps. Start with one and only add more if needed. Once again, multi-tap all areas.

This information assumes there are 0 small streets in the area. If there are small streets, you can often use them to bypass dead spots on main roads.

It is possible to plan ahead. You can tap on an area to see if it is possible to lay a turf, even when it is too far from your turf; you will still get a screen saying it is too far, rather than the screen telling you that you must plant turf near a road. If there are 2 possible roads for your route, try tapping on both to see if 1 has more obvious dead spots.
