What is the advantage of using skill points on defence and attack realistically?

There isn't one yet, I've wasted 8 total on them myself. Maybe later they will play a role, who knows.

Think about this... One extra person in your mob with one grenade increases your attack by 10. I don't think you can ever put enough in there to really make a difference. Luckily, I only spent one on attack before I learned the error of
my ways.
