How do I increase influence for my turf? It's lower at one place. Also the upkeep is higher there?

You have to loot extra turf upgrades.

If my police protection runs out while I'm offline is it different prices for different areas?

Police protection doesn't affect planting costs.

It is true that police protections doesn't affect planting costs. Police protection is different in different areas though. In higher populated areas, and areas you have higher inf protection goes up.

If you don't have consigliere you can also pay with 5dp or click the missions tab and pay protection per city. Paying through missions tab does not prevent you from being busted during missions.

You won't lose the energy if you get busted, just a little money, so you can try again. Unless you're in a lot of cities, this is a viable option.

You lose the energy unless you back out of the missions each time you get busted
It's a visual glitch.
