can't claim at physical location

Hi guys. I'm determined to be able to play this game properly, but am hitting roadblock after roadblock. I can't hop, I've tried. Just hit spots that won't alow me to progress. I can deal with that.

What's really frustrating is I'm traveling all over the place for work and it won't let me claim at physical location. My blue gps dot shows that I am there, I have good reception, why can't I claim?

I'm under my max turf, I have plenty of money for where I'm claiming, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app, run app with every other app closed, turned location off and on, but still no claiming at physical location. I'm trapped in my crap town where I started the game.

Makes me a sad panda.

Have you tried switching geocoders?

Assuming you're on an iPhone:

Settings-->Turf Wars-->Use Google geocoder. Toggle that on or off.

I have known a few people with this problem. Unfortunately, you will either have to plant in another town when you travel in real life or you will have to cap your way out.

If there's someone near your size in the town, ask if you can work together and have them build a trail for you. Good opportunity to make an ally👍🏻

In his home town he has 2 inactive players. There are 2 other players on the outskirts but there is no way he can cap them, they're just too big.
I pm'ed him something to try. If any vets/knowledgable people with an Android read this, will you check around his town & see what registers for you? On the iPhone Google Geocoder I've had luck to the SW.

I have the same problem. On Android and I could not claim near my real physical location. Only around the existing turf. I posted about this just the other day. Except.sometimes I apparently got lucky and it worked..while sometimes it doesn't without me making changes on my phone.

I have same problem. Geocoder not working. They need to start this game over.

Okay, so this seems to be an Android issue. Although Jim has some issues due to his area having lots of dead spots, today he couldn't claim in a town where others had already planted turf.

Aktion, you could originally claim near your real physical location or you would never have been able to plant any turf. I also looked at your location & you shouldn't have any issues with dead spots.

Jim told me he did mess with his location accuracy settings 2 days ago when he was able to plant in a different, deserted town. He changed them from highest to the lowest accuracy possible. You 2 other guys could try this & see if anything changes for you.

Thanks Mystery

Today I was in a town with a couple of other turfs and unable to plant, regardless of GPS settings. I went further south to the next town and had the same problem.

I'm thinking the deserted town to the north I was able to plant in was dumb luck and had little to do with GPS settings. I'm off to another town with nobody in it yet today so will try there and let you all know how it goes.

Don't know how the geocoder system works on Androids, but iOS devices have 3: the Apple, Google, and OpenStreetMap geocoders. We typically switch between the three to hop and if there's an area in which none work, well, tough luck, you've got yourself a dead zone.
