I have no idea how to get them to pay me protection.

Basicly what you do is plant a turf near a non 84 one, and make sure that when you max it out, it will overlap the non 84 one.

Keep in mind though, that shen the non 84 turf gets maxxed out, that turf will no longer pay protection to yours, as it is ofc maxxed out :)

To put it more simply, you have to have a turf of higher influence overlapping a turf of lower influence by at least half.

And 84 inf turfs WILL PAY protection to turf equipped with a Union Boss, so 84 inf is not necessarily going to stop you from paying or assist you in collecting protection.
