EXP from fighting

How exactly is this calculated? It seems to be completely random, some people give me 0 exp, some give me 1-2 and some give 5-6 but it fluctuates very fast.

The average accepted number of attacks by the same player in 24 hours is 6-8. After winning 8 attacks the player won't receive any more xp. The money starts to drop off until the winning player gets $0 on the 13th attack.
If you attack (and win) 6 times in 24 hours, after another 24 hours, you can get money & xp again. If you attack (and win) 8 times in 24 hours, you have to wait 36 hours before you can get money or xp again.
The most you can get is 6 beating someone of a higher level. There is an automatic 1 xp bonus fighting a higher level player.
When you are attacked, there is no limit to the XP you get, it will only give 0 XP when you attack more than Mystery's quote says.

The highest XP comes from fighting players close to your strength, often you win and lose about half and half. Remember there is more to "strength" than just mob number, although that is a good start. Your, and their, weapons, and whether they are on V discount are factors. You get XP from attacking turf, too, so a new to area discount can be a factor.
Turf attacks count towards the above limits Mystery outlined, IE if you attack me 7 times, then 7 on my turf, you won't get anything differently than if you attacked me 14 times.

So this system is in place to prevent people being farmed for xp I'm guessing.
Thanks for clarifying that for me.
