how often can someone place a vendetta on you?

a couple of weeks ago, I captured a Turf which was all alone in an area and the owner responded by placing a vendetta on me, which I thought was a bit extreme. for the next week, he kept attacking me every few hours, but as he was under-powered to attack me, he kept losing the fights. now the vendetta has stopped and I'm poised to basically take 5-6 of his turfs from him, because he basically pissed me off. I know as soon as I take his turfs that he will want to vendetta me again, but I need to know if he can as it was so close to his last one. if he can't, then I will have great pleasure in just destroying him! 😝
