It seems I have been living under a rock in terms of big alliances.

What's their policy? All members off limits? Is there a list or is a "cap and see" sort of thing?

I capped a turf off a member with way too much inf to mob and I get someone bigger capping me back.

I'm just a small fry looking for the occasional turf to expand.

Please enlighten me so I can avoid this.

Check there msg's for ones off know alliance members. Also check there V's. You could just join em!

It's not just a dborg thing. You run the risk of being hit back when you cap anyone. A lot of small players have bigger friends. Depending on who you cap, you may get a light warning or you could get devastated.
