What is health for?

What does health do for you? Can you die? So far it doesn't seem to have an affect on income, my health that is, not my turfs health. Is there a point to adding skill points to it? I'm going to assume it just works in conjunction with stamina to allow attacks.

The more health the more you can attack before you have to heal, and healing at the ER adds more health
