If you have the choice would it be better to capture a turf or use it for protection money?

If you have a turf that makes 30k before protection, and the other turf makes $25k (since it'd have to have less influence than you for you to collect protection), then having both would earn ya $55k total. If you collecting protection instead, you'd only get maybe a third of that turfs income, which would be about $8k, so $8k + your $30k would only be $38k. Only problem with having two both is now you count for two turfs instead of one towards your limit. So for a two turf total you could collect protection with one for the (hypothetical) $38k), and then build a second turf making $30k without protection. Now for the same two turfs you're collecting $68k.

That makes a lot of sense. So I guess it is better to collect until you come to a point where you are maxed on turfs and have no room to move or in a position to take many turfs in a short time.

I disagree. If you take out the other turf you might get the guy to move everything they have. Them your 30k and 25k turfs will make 9.5k.
