I'm not sure if depositing money into the bank is a good idea.

Only if you're getting absolutely hammered by other players all the time making your income go negative. Some like to keep a few billion in there for an emergency, in case they get in a bind later on.

For people with lots of money and heavily targeted then yes they will be depositing in the bank often

Consider how much you would lose to the bank fee an compare it to how much you lose given how often you are attacked. Whichever preserves your cash.

If you're ever not sure, bank it.

Depending on how much upkeep you have I would say keep something from 100m - 500m in the bank.
Should you get massively capped you have a good amount to:
1 keep your weapons
2 rebuild turfs allot fast
3 should you ever need to hop you always have cash at the ready.

Nothing worse than having a high upkeep then having yours turfs capped with a negative figure as you "income" afterwards.
