Attack and defence

My question is in regards to winning/losing a fight. Is it strictly based on the atk/def ratio between the attacker and the defender? Because after the fight, I calculated weapons used and my attack was more than 3000 more than his defense. But I still win some and lose some. So, my question is, what other factors determine the winner, or is it random if you are within a certain range of your opponent?

Anyone?

There is a significant random factor in the fights.

Is this factor applied to all opponents, or only when their stats are close? Is there anything that determines it? It just seems rare to see a random factor in a numbers game...

the random factor goes toward all opponents. Given enough attacks you could theoretically beat someone with 1000 more mob.
