Plane ticket issue

I planted turf at LAX and SFO but didn't receive a plane ticket. Instead, it said I would receive a plane ticket in 2 weeks. Is this normal or should I have received it right away?

You get a plane ticket two weeks after you use one.

If this is normal then when did it change? It used to be the case that for your first time flying, as soon as you planted turf at a game-supported airport then you could fly. You didn't have to wait 2 weeks for your first time.

As soon as you hit the required level, you get a valid plane ticket. I'm 100 miles away from one and have a ticket now. I've read before that a player physically landed at an airport and placed a turf right where he was standing. The game only recognized his actual location hundreds of miles away so automatically used the ticket he had based out of a connecting airport he previously had turf at.
Location lag for the gps?

My confusion must be that once you place your first airport turf and engage in "flying" you are forever in the two week cycle for plane tickets.

I thought once you go for a time without any airport turfs that you'd be able to fly immediately after placing a new and only airport turf again.

That is the case mys. As soon as I got to an airport I was ready to fly. Then from the point I used my PT the 2 week cycle started.

OG, when my next PT is issued if I don't use it it sits there. There's no time limit and it doesn't expire, they just don't accumulate.

Funny thing is a long term player recently accused me of cheating because I was in another country a few days after resetting. The joke was on him 😒.

From my understanding of the OP, he sounds like he planted a turf at LAX, then used his plane ticket to fly to San Fran. In that case it worked as it should, he will get a new plane ticket in 2 weeks.

According to his profile, he was at each of those airports in real life when he planted turf; he didn't use a plane ticket.
