I understand the posts below but if I am at "max" & cap will I have to wait (lvl) longer before my limit is increased as I lvl?

I guess the incentive is a temporary increase in funding from more turfs. Assuming you keep expanding in this way it does mean you can keep above your turf limit. I'm trying to work out what's best - taking turfs or earning protection money from them from neighbouring mobsters

Thinking about it - the other incentive is you capture turf with all its upgrades. You have to repair it but the cost to repair will be much lower than the cost to build your own with the same upgrades. So it's cheaper to capture than build.
