How do these actually work? My assumption is they aren't weighted and just add to your over all attack or defense stat. Is this correct?
-
Answer plz! Bump
-
They are added to your total attack/defense that is calculated using your mob/weapons.
-
Ahhh, so 1 point in att/def isn't worth more than 1 additional point to the basic weapon calculation...
That's to bad! Heh
-
Answer plz, I wanna know also. When I can't beat people with smaller mobs, who I can see have put points into atk/def. I start thinking 30 or 40 points in either matters more than 100 geared mob
-
And I mean, what's the math?
-
I don't think it's weighted. You can get beat by smaller mobs because the items are slanted heavily towards defense. Weapons have such a high def stat, that they essentially count as another body armor. So an outfitted mob has def thousands higher than atk. I've been tracking my combat effectiveness against players based on their inventory. Like say I have 350 RPGs and armor.. I can only beat someone with about 250 miniguns and armor. Even with over 50 points in my atk and def each.
-
Actually those numbers aren't accurate. I could beat that 250armor/minigun guy 9/10 times, which isn't very close. I think there was a guy with 300 armor and 300 aks, though that I was beating half or two thirds of the time.
Point is two people with even mob and even inventory can't beat each other. Even when one put all their points in atk and def and the other put none. A friend and I test it on and off as our mobs grow.
-
Yeah, evenly matched players can't defeat each other.
How does LEVEL impact combat?

if that's actually the case, that's insane, as an extremely cheap weapon such as a grenade is worth as much as several levels' worth of points.Ahhh, so 1 point in att/def isn't worth more than 1 additional point to the basic weapon calculation...

in general, the whole attack/defense/level/mob system needs a lot of clarification and transparency. so far it's just a big guessing game, even though a lot of players have spent good time trying to make sense of it. is that normal practice in games like this?
-
and nick, i don't mean to sound ungrateful. the game is great and thanks for everything. woOt

Seriously, does level factor in to combat? I think it does, but the randomness makes it hard to be sure.

as far as i know the only way it affects attacking is that a very lower level gets assistance and against much higher levels
add pages188

That's the only documented factor, but my combat spreadsheet preducts results better if I factor in level. Yes, I am King Nerd.
Just looking for a word from Nick on this if can can get one.

Peoples question answered

doesn't mean it shouldn't be changed. 10 don points buys you $69k. 15pts gets you 1 hechmen. 1 hechmen can use a mini gun and armor for 31def or 24 attack with an rpg.
Look at how much 3 skill points cost.
50!!!!
Somethings broken, badly right there.

This was probably an ok system back when mobs were still very small but the game has outgrown this. I really think Nick needs to change the way fight calculations are done
-
It's the same as almost every other game out there. I doubt it's gonna change.

Bump

And I just put in 150 points to add def too :(. I love Nick's answer, 'it gets added in, LoL'
-
I just don't understand Nicks rational. It's not like we get 100's of points every level. We get 3! In exchange for this precious 3 points, by putting one in attack we boosted our attack by the worst weapon in the game. Yaaaa okkkk

I call Shens unless you bought. Every don package three times. You are level 54*3 = 162 you have 150 energy and 9 stamina. Exactaly 162 points, try again. And I just put in 150 points to add def too :(. I love Nick's answer, 'it gets added in, LoL'

oh Snap❕❕

I agree with this. 50 points for 1 attack/defend point? Seems like we should use the health model where we go up 10 or 20 for attack/ defend for a 1 respect point upgrade. Seems a big waste of $$ and those of us that bought attack/ defend ugrades should be compensated somehow or given the option to get these Don points back to put elsewhere.

They have a special utility
-
Some clarity here would be good. I've invested over half of my skill points on attack/defence on the assumption they counted for more than just 1 point each on my attack total. If this is not the case, I'd like to know so that I don't waste any more...
-
I've wasted 29 points from leveling up on those attack/defense stats. I want a 29 point refund as there isn't anything in the help section to explain how it works. In mafia wars these points are very powerful!
