How To: Air Support βπ£
Forums βΊ Help & Strategy βΊ How To: Air Support βπ£-
Forgive me, it's been many, many moons since I've contributed anything substantial to this Help & Strategy Forum & I may be a little rusty at it. Anyway, I wrote this tutorial on air support as a PM (series of PMs) for a newbie with questions & I figured I may as well post it here for all new players' benefit.
-
Air Support: air support is a really useful tool, especially if your target has a lot of turf that you're trying to rid them of.
There are a few ways to use air support. We call the person who is in capping distance of the target "the striker".
-
Scenario 1: Air support without a vendetta.
The striker has a larger mob than the target and is able to capture their turf 1 vs 1, but the target has many turf and the striker has limited stamina to burn. The striker & "air supporters" coordinate their attacks (organization for this is key & the level of success is often a sign of how well the team works together) so that the supporters all attack the target's turf at once, "leveling them" (or taking them all to 0 influence) and the striker comes in RIGHT after for the "kill shots" (the captures) to clean up.
The support can be mobs of any size, but of course, the bigger they are (or stronger they are against the target) the more effective/quick they will be. The support members can be anyone within 1000 miles (physically or who have turf w/in 1000 miles) of the turfs to be captured.
-
Scenario 2: Air support in a vendetta.
With a vendetta, you're working in conjunction with (up to) 3 specific players. The same distance requirements apply. In this scenario, the striker may or may not be able to beat the target 1 vs 1. They may actually need their vendetta partners for the kill shots. This scenario is slightly trickier & takes even better organization & coordination. Ideally, you'll know your partners' schedules (or be able to pick a meeting time) & even more ideally, know your target's schedule of playing, sleeping, working, etc. I know that sounds creepy, but in TW, we tend to know too much about each other (time zones, who works graveyard at the stripclub, who wake up at 2am PST to work at Disneyland, who still plays TW at work, the party people & alcoholics who stay up way too late, the diehard TW addicts who are known to lose ridiculous amounts of sleep while involved in a war, etc).
-
Other than that, I'll let you figure out your own other tools to coordinate against your target.
It basically works the same, but while the vendetta members/air supporters are attacking the target, the striker (& all other members) will lose health & stamina. If there aren't too many turfs to destroy, the striker can be on the map at the same time as the supporters for a quick clean up. If the striker or the whole team needs to conserve stamina, the striker should stay in the ER while the supporters hit. While in the ER, the striker's stamina will not be effected by their partners. Depending on time constraints, the supporters may also want to rotate shifts in the ER to get the most out of the group's collective stamina. As I mentioned earlier, if the striker can't beat the target 1 vs 1 for those kill shots, they will need 1 or more (depending on team attack strength vs target defense strength) of their vendetta partners OUT of the ER & WITH remaining stamina for the kill shots.
-
The benefits of air support are that the striker gets to use his/her stamina much more wisely & effectively & when you work as a team, you're more likely to get the job done quicker & clean house while your target is still none-the-wiser. I hope that was clear enough & that it helps!
Other vets: you're welcome to add things I may have missed. Also, I apologize if this has been done & been done better before. :)

Very nice strategy! Sticky worthy! The idea of studying your target has helped me a lot in times of fighting another player. And I have to admit, this is very helpful on conserving stamina and money during a fight. Thanks Bella!

Thank you. I wouldn't mind having a stickied thread. :)

Typically it's easier when you are in a vendetta to use people for air support that are NOT in your vendetta.
Most players use Palringo to coordinate support in either scenario. Since Pal can be used on a PC too, that's another bonus.

Haha the party people and alcoholics....

Cool thanks I really want to try that now.

I don't approve of this being on page 2 so soon. π

Well thought. But if i were in scenario 1, i might be able to own that turf. But in scenario 2, i'll destroy it due to me being in a vendetta. So is there any way to own that turf w/o wanting to destroy it? Kinda greedy thought. Haha! Its all for π°!!

Thank you Bella. I love these strategy threads! Very sticky worthy.

Jesus. Are you serious? You wanted me to tell you how to do it but you won't read it. Why would I waste my time and energy telling you the exact same thing I already took an hour to write? And why would reading it in your comments be any different than reading it in the forum?really?

Man, I was just thinking about this strategy the other day! I didnt know that someone else had already thought of it. To be honest now I am rather disappointed. But Bella, great job!
