Cap and destroy?

I'm seeing quite a few 25k+ guys with 500+ turfs and billions in the bank cap turfs and then immediately tear them down. Why?

Mostly because we want the loot that the turf had but don't want to go over our turf limit so.... Or it could be personal

No, these are standard 86 influence turfs and I just watched one guy cap and destroy turfs from four different people. In the past week I think I've seen him cap about 10 different people and then destroy the turfs. I can't find a pattern to it.

If you are attacking in a Vendetta, you cant capture turfs, you can only destroy. Also in personal wars, one may just want to eliminate his enemy from a certain city or area.

I have had this happen. I was told he was tearing them down to stop other players that are after him capping them and using them to hop. Thought it sounded like bollocks, prob just wanted the 1.7mil.

BL6 - thats a good reason too. high level aggressive attackers go over their turf limit so they cant plant new turf, only cap. If you are trying to stay out of cap range from them, they can "crawl up a ladder" to get you by capping turf along the way. Cutting the trail keeps you a little safer.

I tear down most of the turf I cap to keep from going over limit. If I'm keeping a turf, I prefer to plant my own to try & maximize income & I like to pick the name.

Actually I did this a few days ago. There was only a Player smaller than me between some of my best Turfs and the guy, that already took 10 of my other turfs. I had no chance to keep those turfs against him. Even if I had closed the gap in mobsize, he would have still been equipped a lot better. So I gave a pm to the small player to give him a chance to tear it down. When he didn't I capped them and tore them down. Been safe since then. It was the easiest way to solve my problem and gave me time to punch Codes and get weapons.

I go through phases. Depends on the mood I'm in...sometimes I tear down.. Sometimes I don't. I am more likely to tear down in a not so heavily populated area. No money to be made. If I tear down in a dense area, it really starts to affect everyone's income. But sometimes I feel like being a "B word" (I'm actually a female in real life) and will demolish a dense area.. Just for kicks!

I admit that sucks. Can relate to that. Just wanted to Emphasize again that some people don't cap you out of aggression. I really hated the fact I had to cap someone smaller than me (that didn't harm me when I was small) just to keep myself safe.

But I will remember them! And when I got my revenge then I will stand at their side because they didn't hold a grudge! 😉

That depends on the player, the town, if there's a war going on, etc.

Ahh... Well, I'm kinda new at this! I just think it's fun. My hubby who plays also has asked me to stop... But it's a great way to make some real money. Unfortunately it's a great way to make a lot of enemies. At any rate...fun. I do have a heart though and I am actually quite nice and usually if someone asks me not to take their turf I stop.
