Turf colour- remove white

Some cowardly buggers go unseen whilst sneaking up on you I think you should by visible at all times.

It's a great tactic, use it all the time. All you have to do is look carefully and always scan your turf zone
-
Nick said he's puttin boarders around them soon. I disagree with this tho. What set turfwars apart from other games is the fact that it takes actual tactics to be successful. Stealth is a very important tactic. Oh well guess there's still the option to mimic the color of your oponent.
-
Lol, the good old Trojan horse

You might find zooming out to be helpful in this situation. Simply zoom out on the map enough so that all turfs become pushpins and it won't matter what color they made it.
I do this at least once a day, and can easily spot a pushpin that wasn't there the day before.
Granted, none of my cities are very crowded... : (

Although I agree there are some interesting strategies using colors (or lack thereof). However, I feel like this can be abused/exploited much more than it is helpful. Maybe if there was something else in-game that gave you an indication that someone had placed a turf "close enough" to a turf in one of your cities...you would have to spend the time to locate it still.Nick said he's puttin boarders around them soon. We're putting gray borders around light colored turf if the next release.

I dissagree Nick. If you start taking away all tactics from this game then what is leftWe're putting gray borders around light colored turf if the next release.

This isn't really a tactic, it's more of an exploit. There are plenty of other ways to blend in in a city.

Well guess I shouldn't really worry about it. I never used it anyways. Still personally wouldn't call it an exploit but it is your game and I know you always do what's best in the endThis isn't really a tactic, it's more of an exploit. There are plenty of other ways to blend in in a city.

since it wa brought up i have to ask what other ways are there to blend in anyone? i am an avid leapfrogger going on a big trip and the last thong o want is to get my chaon capped and have tp start over

Obviously using a color closely matching another players' is one way. If you keep your turfs smaller & more spread out, you'll be less on the radar.

Here's my thoughts on white/near transparent turfs; it's a stealth tactic. Stealth tactics are used in war in order to infiltrate enemy lines with a higher chance of going unseen.
If you want to throw the realism pitch at me, think about this: a mob going into an area where another mob has established influence, regardless of whether the intent is for hostile or nuetral reasons...they are likely going to try & establish territory & operate without alerting the other mob of their presence.
I wouldn't call this an exploit because you can see these turfs; nobody will ever get a perfect match. You can zoom out & see the pin view, you can zoom in close & see overlap into different colored areas on the map & they show up nicely on the web map which I use all the time.
I realize this was probably never intended to be used in this fashion but I think it's a nice caveat & makes a real useful addition to the old strategy book.
Rant complete.

Oh & if someone sneaks one of these turfs under your nose & catches you off guard...that's your bad!!!

Agreed 110%

Agree 110% with matt's post as well. It would be a shame to lose the stealth part of the game n the gps aspect of this game.
-
I think the difference between tactic and expoit is in the intent of of it's user.
Transparent turf and downgrading to 1 inf are perfect examples of defensive tactics for beginners/smaller players.
But when experienced vets use them to bully or for easy gains, or to hide from an otherwise fair fight, that's more of an exploit IMO.
-
Coming from someone who also uses this tactic it would be a shame to lose it :( it can help both in attack and in my case, defence. It's been the only thing keeping the wolves at bay. An even more difficult start for new players i fear.
-
Nick take care, if you change established game features you give good reasons to question if it's worth to spent any longer money for it...
-
... and I completly disagree to change the color option!
-
Agreed wholeheartedly with the fact that after more than 6 months, it suddenly becomes an exploit, huh? Anyway, players will end up doing what they think works best, so the results will speak for themselves as we're the players & there's no pt arguing with the dev. We are just stating our opinions and it's up to the devs to decide how they intend to use the feedback appropriately or just toss it out.
-
I think another idea for a solution, as well as a feature I'd like to see, is to make an option on the Turf/map view to use the sattelite photo view like in Google Maps. Dunno how hard it would be to implement, but would be a cool feature since we sometimes claims locations based on what's there and not just the area. Also, it would make white turf colors show up easier. Leave the map view default, but have a (possibly temp display, have to reselect each time it's loaded) photo/hybrid view option.

The white turf has been a complaint since the beta. The reason I consider it an exploit is you're matching the map's color to make it invisible. Matching other players' turf is a tactic since the turfs will still at least be visible.
Maybe we'll add a loot item that let's you make a turf fully stealth for a limited time.

I agree I don't like the feature
