Great Idea Nickos, I'm a fan...

I been a big brother (not brother in real life) to Lyndon I helped him a lotSo I'm thinking about a more community-based way to help out the newbies who get battered by bullies. Probably the worst welcome for a new player is 20 attacks from someone 30 levels higher than them.
What about a "big brother/big sister" (no official name yet) program, where new players (say level 25 and below) have a way of being mentored and/or protected by a vet in their area.
Newbies would benefit by being able to grow without being steamrolled, help learning the ropes, not to mention a great way to meet players in the Turf Wars community. The vets can get direct in-game benefits (more on this as future features are announced), as well as a great way to socialize and make new allies.
Thoughts?

I'd really want to mentor someone...
-
I still get "bullied" but I don't really care now I just use forum
-
I will help with mentor system by the way nick💪💪 lol

I think this is a great idea. I really believe it is the social aspect of Turf Wars that compels people to keep playing.

One idea on how you could possibly implement this is when a Turf Wars player first signs on, give them a list of participating vets in their area to select from. You could say Select a Local Consigliere: or Select a Local Bodyguard:
Then allow the participating vets to write a short blurb about themselves to give the newbies an idea of our personality types. Like for mine I could write I'm a cunning strategist with far-reaching alliances & can help you become established.
The newbie browses the list, reads the blurbs then selects who they want to be their consigliere or bodygaurd. The vet then gets a message that they were selected & can make contact with the newbie.
Somewhere on the newbies profile have a Under Protection Of: ~Matt~ or whoever so other mobs know who they'll piss off by messing with them.

This is a great idea Nick. Local capos don't necessarily fit the bill tho. I think it's already happenening with alot of players who don't say so here too. Like Matt said, the social aspect of the game is what is key in this game. It would be a good way to keep both older & newer players in the game. I think the choice of noobs & mentors should be chosen individually too & with a limit.

Perhaps a way to also punish those being mentored of they should step out of line?
-
So if I mentor a guy called noob then say he spams his code in wrong forum I can "slap" him for say 20 health (you choose amount) or cash which you don't get from him it is just deleted

not always. Just because someone is capo doesn't make them strong or experienced. Alot of good player don't even have capos. Take turfwarrior one of the top players and he just got his first capo this last week.I think that the capo of their city should maybe protect them and be the bog brother because he knows the area.

there shouldn't be a way to punish otherwise it would be like some kind of school, just if they step out of line to much stop mentoring.Perhaps a way to also punish those being mentored of they should step out of line?

How 'bout you just make it so you assist the turfs that are paying protection to you? I think it would be more inline with the game.
-
...this way new players can just build next to a big player to get their protection. Then the protection money that is already taken actually means something.

if you could some how itegrate 'paying protection' to the capo, they could then use the vendetta modle as in if someone hits the noob they have some or all of the capos help to repel them
-
Thuglife has been doing that and is down with that...

I think it's a good idea as I was slowly building up my turf when nearly all of it was captured by someone level 84!! The big brother/sister idea is great! I hope it comes into action!

hey mate i love the idea but one problem what if the person that selects your is an asshole

In the case where your mentor turns out to be an ass, there would have to be a 'fire' button that would allow you to dump your current mentor & get a new one.

Truly spiffing idea -
Could use "mentor requests" that have a time limit. No limit on renewing. Amount of protection must b limited to keep it fair.
