There's a limited viewing space on the iPhone and sig would take up a lot of the screen. Also these forums are not the primary focus of the app, so I don't think there should be a lot of features (atm anyways) here. I mean stickies and font styling is nice, but things like sigs and embeddable content are not.

I wouldn't mind seeing standard forums like phpBB or ipb on the website though 😉

That still isn't the purpose of the app. That's just a side effect of the stagnation.
