Stop forum assholes?

How about, each week someones invite code is stickied at the top of the general forum. To get this position for the week, the player has to make valid intelligent contributions to the forum. At the end of the week nick (or a designated moderator) could decide who deserves the place. This would provide an incentive to behave properly on the forum, and talk about thinks other than weed drink and pussy.

It would be a lot easier just to delete and ban offenders. And I think that would leadcto more bickering between folks thinking they should have been the one awarded

That's true, but banned players just get new accounts. Is there a way of banning a certain device? (similar to i.p. Banning from computers?) nick?..

While I think the concept is great, it's impossible to implement without bickering. Any special recognition program will lead to sore losers and could turn the forums into a popularity contest.

you put forward aproved people and the public votethe mods change monthly so it's not a competition

Nick is right. Furthermore, you shouldn't have to resort to bribes to get people to behave.
I've run forums before and seen it all first hand.

That's why there needs to be a posted set of forum guidelines.

Agreed. People would bicker, so I guess it should be harder punishments on breaking rules which are set out more clearly, possibly enforced by moderators.

The simplest thing is to make a separated board for 18+ conversation. It doesn't fully solve the problem but helps keep it to a minimum on the main forum
