Why not randomly sprinkle "Hot Zones" or POI's that when you control, you gain a bonus. I know that pure street maps are available, so if you run the Random generator and churn out a dozen or so spots in each state; give them names like "Joeys Garage" and "La Trattoria"; ya know flavor names. If your influence controls them, you get say a money bonus, protection bonus, respect bonus. Maybe you cotrol a warehouse and get equipment cheaper etc

I definitely like this idea. Maybe have them randomize on a weekly basis? It would keep the game fresh and dynamic.

Or better:
Get malls or shops to sponsor such that visiting a shop will give you some bonus gain.
