In the MMORPG genre it's common to group up in so called "guilds". This helps players when starting and is a great platform for team play.
In TW I've seen som alliances, but why not have the feature as an official part of the game?
It could easily be implemented in the Main menu, and from the syndicate button you go to the Syndicate page, where you can start a syndicate, manage members, give ranks, discuss "syndicate members only" business etc.
I for obe would love to team up with a lot of nice people in here and have a forum where we (members) can chat without the posts being flushed out by other posts.
I hope you like the idea :)

Yes

Alliances should never be a part of the game. They should stay player controlled.
Someone will be by to explain why. -

Nah it's not that type of game, besides, it would segregate groups of players. We already have a forum with a wealth of information and I have never seen a problem with forum messages. Alliances should stay unofficial.
-
Unofficial is better. As was said it causes segregation. Also those such as myself that aren't allowed in any alliances would be left out of the whole thing. It's just better open ended and run by players

The risk of official syndicates is that you make alliances the standard which could ruin the game for solo players. And as I've said above not everyone is solo by choice

Alliances use Palringo to chat. There are places to make free webpages for something more permanent. Making alliances an official part of the game would make it too rigid.

Well.. If you know anything about studies done of large groups of computer gamers, they are categorized in rather distinctly different play styles/behavior - and your view is (fair enough) exposing your own personal preference. Fair because I also expose my personal preference; as a "social player".
This game would benefit (grow in paying users) by giving some features to a broader/All type of computer gamer play styles.
On a general note its quite remarcable how narrow most players in here see the opportunities in further developing the game 😥

P.S. 74% of studies are bullshit and 88.5% of statistics are made up on the spot. -

Apparently my view doesn't expose my person prefernce at all. I'm quite a social player. I used to be in an alliance (until it disbanded) & I'm on the forums & in Pal quite a lot. I never said alliances are bad for the game; I don't believe they are. I've even suggested a separate alliance forum. However, alliances created by players allow for far more options & variability than a game-based system.

Completely agree. By introducing alliances officially it would undoubtably become a necessity. Solo players would struggle as the game starts to orientate around masses of groups.Apparently my view doesn't expose my person prefernce at all. I'm quite a social player. Or there could be a selection of alliances predetermined for you to join as you start and switch for RP? By making it compulsory everyone will be part of one and then solo players can go about their own thing as long as they don't attack the alliance they're part of... Then at lvl 50, 70 or 100 you can make your own alliance with your friends...

No, it's too restrictive. Alliances should never be pre-determined or mandatory. Since this idea keeps being suggested again, here's one of the threads discussing it.

Since this idea has come up again...
