I think it would be an interesting twist if the server could randomly spawn a number of special item caches throughout each continent. To claim a cache, a player would have to be within a certain 'physical' proximity to the cache like the players' own influence ring...

Damn, I forgot about all you people on the wi-fi leashes. I guess if it were true satellite GPS, then it would be a cool idea. Now that I think about it, all us iPhone users are stuck with AT&T & our 3G map sucks :(

Oh well, it takes a number of bad ideas to come up with one good one I guess.
