Where are the "Rules" of the game?
Forums › Suggestions & Feedback › Where are the "Rules" of the game?-
People are beginning to claim that I and some of my friends/family are "cheaters". I would like to see these "rules" of the game that I agreed to whenever I started playing this app. As far as I know, the only rules I have agreed to are the ones established by the game programming itself.

Reading the forums is NOT a requirement for playing this game.

dear devs,
is this cheating? I don't know why people think this is undermining inappropriate game play. -
So let me count...that's two more useless, unconstructive posts that clearly don't answer the question that I was honestly trying to get an answer to. I'm more than happy to follow any rules that the developers want to put forth and make everyone agree to in a Terms of Agreement form or via the in-game programming. Until then, my family will continue to play by the rules of the game as they are currently established by the program itself.
-
And...just to be clear, I would like these "rules" to clearly state how many turfs can be captured via "bridges" per account. And also I would like a definition on what "true" gameplay is, so that I can let my family know how "active", or what actions they need to be taking in-game in order to not be considered as "cheaters".
-
I would also request that any further posts by others in here actually attempt to answer the question I put forth instead of undermining (a term others like to use) the integrity of a valid forum post.

You should put family in quotes too since they don't really play and it's all you

"family"

This issue needs to be addresed. How can we call night a cheater? Most of us if not all of us have formed our own alliances with other players or friends who play. Is it suddenly against the "rules" (which obviously "Nick" has not made clear yet...) to use allies to your advantage? I for sure don't have 2 accounts by any means. But I have friends who play. Obviously we're going to help eachother out. If your too stuborn or un-friendly to make allies of your own... then your obviously on your own.
-
I've been playing this game almost since the begining. And I quickly realized that it's alot easier to make friends with "some" of the players in your area. Especially when vendettas come next week. It's going to be critical to have allies. So any bigger player who's continued to spam/farm smaller players and refused to make allies will have their work cut out for them. Any who feels as tho they are being picked on by a multiple account user. Keep in mind that the "mule" account can make you money too. There's no reason why someone with 2 accounts can truely gain any more advantage than someone with a friend who plays. (also night is refering to family, what... You all expect him to tell his family or any of his friends for that matter that they aren't allowed to play anymore because they know eachother?)

Davey boy seems to be another of night's accounts

It's one thing when two or more people form an alliance.
When one player use multiple devices to form those alliances, I would think that is questionable.
Cheating? Well, there is no clear rule.
Unethical? That's probably the better term.
I would liken it to a 4 player game of Monopoly where one player is playing as two players and making trades amongst the two player properties he controls to gain an advantage over the other two individuals,
There's nothing wrong with teamwork, but one person with multiple accounts does not constitute a team, IMO.
-
ChainsawCharlie...you pretty much hit the nail on the head with all your statements...thank you for speaking out.
But here's one question you failed to address...how do you get the proof that there is only a single person behind all the actions being accomplished on two separate accounts. How can you clarify the difference between one person with two accounts...or, a husband and wife working together...or two next-door-neighbors...or two co-workers...or whatever the situation might be?
-
For most of the above situations...you might be able to prove it by linking the email account to the account name. But then how do you justify families that use the same iTunes account, but with different devices? My point is that...it would be very difficult for anyone other than the person (or persons) doing the acts to prove that it is solely one player using two separate accounts.
-
Now let's go to the other side of the spectrum...you also mention that it might be unethical for someone who does have access to multiple devices to use both those devices to play Turf Wars...or perhaps the better way to say it is that YOU personally think it's unethical.
-
I guess I want to get this straight for what you are considering unethical. You think that if someone does happen to own two devices (let's say for example they have a personal iPhone and a work iPhone)...and because they own two devices, that per the agreement with apple and iTunes they have the ability to put whatever applications they want on either device or both devices...and so are you saying that if puts the same app on both devices, they aren't allowed to use that app on both devices?...or are you purely saying that because this is a game that gives you a single account per device, that ethically you should only be allowed to use one of the devices to play the game...because it would be unfair? But then...doesn't everyone who plays the game have the ability to have multiple devices and multiple accounts...thereby nullifying the unfairness of the situation?
-
I don't see anything wrong with families working together.
But single person/multiple devices...just because it can't be proven doesn't make it right.
It basically comes down to Honor. You have it or you don't.
Games like this don't always have the rules spelled out.
It mostly comes down to community standards and the (intended) spirit of the game.
-
I agree...players should have honor and ethics...and also I agree that there are unwritten rules in every game that the general community agrees to play by...and I'm not arguing against any of that. However, from what I understand, players are calling for multiple account users to be banned because they believe it's unfair or they "aren't following the rules".
-
Have to bump this too. Still waiting for Nick to either say "no rules" or "here are the rules".
-
Bump yet again

I think I've said my peace here...I've done my due diligence. If Nick decides he just doesn't want to respond or doesn't see the justification in responding to the comments/suggestions that we've provided here (and I'm sure he's read it and had time to think about it by now), then that's his choice. Until Nick decides to resurrect this issue at a later date, I will let this die knowing that I did pretty much everything I could to try to attempt to follow the rules set forth in the game. And anyone who attempts calls me a cheater from here forth, I will just direct them towards this thread...and if they continue to call me a cheater, then further action will be taken.
