One of my turfs is actually so close to another turf I get protection money from it. However the game says I'm not close enough to the turf to capture it?! Is that normal? I've captured turf from a much further distance...

They have too low of an influemce making the range yoi need to be impossibly close.

It's not that as I have definitely taken turfs this small before. If u look at my turf it's the "oh no!" turf on St. Marys.

it's not just the size of the turf but the total # of turfs from the player you're taking from.

The turf is too far away for you to capture. It is not a glitch.

Read the how to use the catire checklist thread. This is detailed in there.

Honestly I've looked at it and I fulfil all the criteria to take the turf. I'm earning protection money from it lol!

What's the inf of the turf you are trying to capture

The turf is so small it is not close enough to yours, both the target and the attacking turf need thier influence rings to cross the center of each others turf. Ie yours is big enough but his isnt

What does the checklist at the bottom say? All green checks, or some red x's?

Earning protection is not a prerequisite to capture.
Read the thread I suggested if you want to really want to understand.
