The idea behind this is great, but the map as it works now...not so much.
I understand this is a GPS based game, and the need to protect such a key selling point, and something like the police map would provide the potential to bypass that feature.
BUT, if the geocoder was up to speed, we would already have that.
So how about a happy medium, slanted in favor of the gps feature?
Make the map reusable. NOT unlimited. just enough to give it some functionality, but limited enough to keeps it rarity, and make us work to hop.

Some suggestions for this:
1. Time limited. Use as much as you can for a period of one hour. This would allow turf hoppers to make a decent gain, but not too much. They would still need to rely on looting another map for any considerable gains. This may be just enough to get through a couple dead zones.
2. Limit the number of times it can be used. Once per turf, but usable on up to 10 -12 turfs. This would be more geared to bypassing dead zones than regular hopping. You would have to pick and choose wisely when to use it.

Either way, it keeps it limited enough to keep the gps spirit of the game intact, but at the same time, it gives hope and renews interest to veteran players and newer players coming into the game in rural areas will have more reason to stay.
This keeps us working for our hops, and keeps it a rewarding experience. As it is now, it's just one step above hopeless. Especially for those in less urban areas with vast expanses of remote nothingness between the hot spots where geocoder information is simply not going to be updated anytime soon.

If the map issue is not to be addressed turf hopping needs to be more efficient. A "buy all upgrades" and "sell all upgrades" button.

This is an excellent idea, we all had a taste of what it could be like if we had multiple use of the map, and it bought new life to the game! Limit it to an hour or 10 turf with one use like Charlie suggested. This gives us a good chance to cover ground and cross dead zones rather than waste a rare item to hop the length 4 or 5 turfs could have taken you, if you can even build there in the first place! Not impressed with it at the moment! ๐

After thinking about it more, I think instead of having for x amount of time, or use on x amount of turfs, it should be usable for a set number of times, but keep the varialble/randomness of the area of increase you get.
Say 10 for example.
Use it on a turf, on you get a certain amount of increase. If that gets you through a mdead zone, save the rest of the uses.
Maybe you need to use it more than once on a turf (up to 5, as that is what is stackable now) to get max effect.
This would give us usefulness, but we would need to use it sparingly if we are to get through dead zones.

A good idea, the amount limit is better as opposed to time limit, simply cos of water hopping.

Has this happened yet, or is it one of those things that has to wait for update? Maps still seem pretty rare.

FYI, Maps were still rare (a red item) as of yesterday.
