I feel like if you take over a local gas station or McDonald's you should get extra money because that's a business that technically you own.

No, just the main businesses as in big name brands like McDonald's, Walmart, Bojangles, etc..

The locations are already set into google maps. If turf wars were to switch back to google maps, it would be considerably easier
