To spice things up...how about having a virtual reality option within the Turf Wars Virtual Reality itself?
Basically, my thought is to have a dream button that you can press which transports you to one of several islands in the Pacific (any of the unpopulated Atols used for nuclear testing would be fine, but really it could be anywhere) and you are given a randomly chosen mob size, weapon/armor load, etc, and a generic goal for the dream...and other people that are dreaming and picked that specific Island would show up there as well (so more like the Dennis Quaid movie than real dreaming but more fun this way).
Then you are in there until your preset alarm goes off.
Could have a dream forum so others not dreaming could watch the conversations as you are dreaming.
Tasks could be 1) defend an area, 2) hop to and take over an area (one or a few against many with appropriate weapons and money and such), 3) training modes, etc.
Thoughts?

Screens would be essentially the same, just with different players, locale, and weapon/money/etc. Just some more databases for the server to track. Would be interesting to see how many people shift over to living in the dream world :).

And also new players...I was curious why I was the only one playing TW where I work (we have at least 100 people with iPhones, ipads, and touchs.) Depending on where they lived, they either said no one else was nearby, too many large players were nearby (ie totally packed downtown), players never responded when they asked them questions (got a lot of inactives around), but most never would download it because they had "played games like this before and didn't like the long buildup stages"...the latter group would probably drop the app like a hot potato if they did join and saw all the complaining in the forum by people bored once they did achieve higher levels.

This also would give people in TW something to do while waiting for TW time to progress (new codes to come out, stamina or energy to build up, wealth to build up, etc). You know...something other than real life :).

:) ok, ok, my bad on the name (was watching the movie Dreamscape right after reading the forum chains on what to give high level people if they reset and was wondering if there was a better way to keep them in the game).

All of the stats should have a much faster regeneration time to make it go faster and be more interesting than regular play
