Tournaments Run by Devs with Loot, Cash, and Don Point Rewards

I just stole this idea from The "Acountant". All credit goes to him.
There should be tournaments hosted by the Devs, maybe a two week tourney every 6-8 weeks, that is advertised in the GD by Nick. The first fifty to join get to play. The top 5 winners get varying rewards like in game cash, loot, and Don Points.

I like it

Yes👍

Love it! But to win you would be spending a lot more don points than you would win 😜
-
How about the host of the tournament decides what the prize is. Lets say he makes it 100 don points and the total max players is 10. Each player would pay an entry fee of 10 don points to get in and the winner of it would get the each players contribution.

☝I love a good gamble

@ the OP's idea - it shouldn't just be the first 50 to join. I would hope support could make special tournaments that would allow a lot more players to join.
@zack - I thought about that in the beginning. Players can do that themselves now, if they choose. I'd be surprised if it became official though. Idk what the apple rules are, but if it's too much like gambling, then TW would have to be made 18+.

@mystery
That's a great idea, because I was thinking how the first 50 would be very small and barely anyone would be able to get in, and the spots would fill up in about two minutes. The max number of participants for these special tournaments could be 250 maybe, but that would be a loooooong list and pretty laggy as well. -
Why would there need to be a max? Maybe they'll have different tournament sections, but all competing for the same prize. I'm sure they already thought about running their own & the possibilities before they introduced tournaments.

I like that the tournaments do not have any prize of value provided by MFP. Nothing would prevent me and another level 150 from starting dummy V's, and capping the same turf back and forth, 1 stam per cap after the first one, 113 times every 24 hours, giving us a substantial advantage in a capture tournament.
MFP would be constantly asked to police tournaments for collusion, or minor bugs, or to double check final outcomes.
The fact that they are utterly pointless and give nothing of value (other than what the organizer may choose to offer at his or her own discretion) to the winner is part of what keeps them rather simple for MFP to run.
Any capture or fight based tournament would likely be won by one willing to spend a lot on stam refills, so they would essentially be buying the prize.
Mob races inherently favor low mobs.
Wealth races inherently favor high turf counts.
Prizes of value would turn a fun, optional, and rather pointless diversion into a source of many (valid) complaints.

Mob races can be divided by mob size, i.e. 0-5000 mob, 5,001-10,000 mob; 10,001-20,000; 20,001-30,000; 30,001-40,000; 40,001-50,000; 50,001+ categoriesFight based tournaments could ban the players from using don points for however long the tournament lasted.
Also, you could have categories similar to the top for wealth races.

If they banned don points, not only would they be giving away free stuff at the end, but they would be reducing their own revenue.Chucky Pancamo wrote:

The point really isn't fairness, plenty of shit in this game is unfair and / or can can be bought. The point is more along the lines of would adding prizes into the mix be worth the additional constant feedback. As is, the tourneys are a pretty simple way of displaying data that is tracked already anyway, very low maintenance for the developer.
Fact is, the inconsistency of the 5 free respect points a day has generated a ton of complaints (one's opinion of the validity of those complaints, or how the developer handles them aside, they still need to be dealt with.)
They won't, and shouldn't, add anything of value to the tourneys because it would piss off more players and generate more complaints than it would be worth.
